What Really Matters

As I reflect on today, I sit and watch the rainfall and think about everything I have to be thankful for. Family, friends, health, and the simple gift of being able to express gratitude. These blessings are right in front of me, yet sometimes we forget to slow down long enough to appreciate them.

Today was one of those rare moments that reminded me of what really matters. Barbi, Bella, and I sat together in the living room with no TV on and no distractions. Just family conversation and connection. I watched them smile. I listened to them laugh. I took in the sound of their voices filling the room. When they moved into the kitchen to make buttermilk biscuits, their hands were covered in flour and they were laughing even more. It was messy. It was human. It was beautiful.

Moments like that bring everything into focus. My mind can get filled with everything that feels heavy or missing. The challenges. The struggles. The obstacles. But I am learning to stay defined on what is truly important. Even when the day is overcast and the sky is full of rain, I can still choose to look through the clouds of doubt and despair and count my blessings with gratitude.

Today reminded me that I have everything I need. I have my family. I have love. I have peace. I have reasons to be thankful. And that is enough.
