Do It Now

Do It Now

Today’s reflection comes from a podcast I listened to about procrastination. It helped me see that procrastination is not about being lazy. It is about avoiding discomfort and the negative feelings we connect to certain tasks. We delay things, not because we do not care, but because we want to avoid that emotional weight.

The solution is to build a simple mantra that lives inside of you. A commitment that reminds you to act when the temptation to wait starts to whisper. For me, that mantra is “Do it now.”

Procrastination feels like an intruder that sneaks in when we are not paying attention. It clouds our thinking and tries to steal our momentum. The moment we notice that avoidance creeping in, we have to move. Even the smallest action begins to break its hold. Starting for just two minutes can completely change how we feel.

When we act, clarity comes. When we wait for clarity, delay grows. Taking imperfect steps forward often reveals what we could not see while standing still. Movement creates understanding. Waiting keeps us stuck.

I see this in my own life all the time. Around the house, I catch myself putting off small chores, or replacing them with easier distractions. But when I just begin, even for a short moment, the energy starts to shift. Urgency replaces hesitation.

I also see it in my family. When Bella faces new challenges, I want her to know that action is the key. The cure for procrastination is not waiting for motivation to show up. It is building momentum one small win at a time. And with Barbi, I have seen how taking that first step forward brings peace and confidence.

Procrastination is a thief that hides behind comfort. The more we face discomfort and challenges, the more strength we build. Every time we take action, no matter how small, we take back control.

So when procrastination comes, whether it tries to slip in quietly or walks right up to the front door, meet it with urgency. Step forward. Take the next small action. And remind yourself of the truth that keeps you moving.

Do it now.
