Day 2 is in the Books

Day 2 Is in the Books

Day 2 came and went, and it was one of those days that teaches you more than it rewards you.

Nothing about today felt easy, but nothing about it felt wrong either.

She battled from the very first frame to the very last ball. There were moments where things lined up and moments where they didn’t. She threw the ball well most of the day, hit the pocket often, and still didn’t get paid the way you hope to. That’s a strange place to live in mentally. You’re doing the right things, but the strikes just won’t string together.

Game 6 was a great way to close the day. She settled in, stayed patient, and put together a strong finish. Clean. Composed. Four in a row late. One last ball that didn’t quite finish, but by then the message had already been delivered. She can adjust. She can respond. She can finish.

On the day, she ended up minus 36 for a 194 average. More important than the numbers, she competed. She stayed in it. She didn’t unravel when things weren’t falling.

This wasn’t a bad day. It just wasn’t an easy one.

When you’re throwing it well and the pins don’t cooperate, that’s where growth lives. That’s where you learn how to stay present, how to keep trusting shots, how to manage frustration, and how to move forward without forcing anything. Those are lessons you only learn by going through it.

Her crew was behind her all day. Supporting her. Encouraging her. Believing in her even when the scores weren’t flashy. I was proud of how she handled herself. Mom was proud too. Not because of numbers on a board, but because of how she showed up and stayed steady.

First year of Team Trials comes with growing pains. It’s supposed to. You learn what works. You learn what doesn’t. You learn what your game asks of you at this level.

Day 2 is in the books.

Now we go get something to eat. We get some rest. We reset.

And tomorrow, we show up again for Day 3, carrying everything today taught us forward.
