WSOB Match Play – The Calm Before the Storm
June 18, 2025 – 7:00 PM | Championship Evening Block
It’s almost time.
Bella and Lindsay are already inside the bowling center, getting mentally and physically ready for what may be the most important block of the tournament: four games of round-robin match play, each carrying 30 bonus pins.
The standings are close—several girls are packed within 30 to 40 pins of each other. That means after just one game, we could see major movement. Every pin matters now. Just like they’ve said all week: “Don’t give any away. Get every pin you can.”
After the morning block and Lindsay’s run through match play, we went straight back to the hotel to rest. Then on our way back to the bowling alley for this evening’s round, we stopped briefly at a drive-thru to grab some food for me and Barbi. Bella snacked on a little of it while we sat together in the car.
When we arrived at the bowling center, a light rain had just begun to fall. It wasn’t heavy, but steady enough to make us hustle. Lindsay was ready to go in, so I pulled up under the covered entrance, popped the trunk so she could grab her backpack, and let her slip in dry and focused.
Bella stayed in the car a bit longer with us, finishing a few more bites, then I pulled back up to the entrance and dropped her off too—right into game mode.
After that, Barbi and I parked and sat for a little while, just the two of us—talking, reflecting, and watching the building in front of us. Inside were two young women we love deeply, who’ve shown nothing but grit, composure, joy, and relentless heart all week long.
We talked about how proud we are—not just of how they bowl, but how they carry themselves.
Their perseverance. Their growth. Their willingness to keep showing up.
This isn’t just about winning patterns.
This is the World Series of Bowling Championship—the title that reflects the entire journey.
It’s almost 7:30 now.
Time to head inside and cheer them on.
Let’s go, Bella. Let’s go, Lindsay.
One frame at a time. One match at a time.
You’ve already made us proud—now go finish the story.
