Under the Lights, Beside the Lanes: Bella Love and the Step Ladder Finals
Tonight was one of those unforgettable moments—the kind you feel in your chest before you even find the words.
I dropped Barbi off near Lambeau Field and made the walk over to the Resch Center, heart pounding, legs moving, mind focused on what this night meant. The path from the stadium to the arena felt like walking through a dream. The streets buzzed with energy—families wearing team shirts, young athletes in uniforms, anticipation thick in the air.
Inside the Resch Center, it hit me: this wasn’t just another tournament. This was the 10th Anniversary PWBA Step Ladder Finals, and we were here—not just to watch, but to be part of it.
Bella Love had the honor of walking in with Team USA during the Opening Ceremonies. And not just walking—standing behind the American flag, shoulder to shoulder with her teammates, as they held it proudly during the national anthem. I caught the moment her eyes welled with tears. So did mine. This was bigger than bowling. It was pride, honor, legacy. It was everything she’s worked for and more.
There we were—surrounded by thousands of Junior Gold athletes from across the country. While most competitors here represent teams from all over the United States, we’ve also seen incredible athletes from Costa Rica, Japan, and Canada joining in the experience.
As the lights dimmed and the spotlight turned toward the custom-built four-lane setup in the center of the Resch Center, we took our seats about 20 rows back—soaking in the full spectacle of it all. Bella, meanwhile, had the chance to sit up front, right next to the lanes, watching the best women in the world do what they do best.
The Step Ladder Finalists included bowlers from England, Colombia, Sweden, and two from the United States—an international showdown of elite talent and fierce competition. These powerhouse women brought fire, finesse, and world-class energy to the stage. The precision. The pressure. The presence. Every ball rolled was a masterclass—and Bella got to witness it all, just feet away.
She watched intently. A student of the game, yes—but more than that, a dreamer seeing her future played out in real time. She belongs here. And I saw it in her eyes tonight.
It wasn’t just a show. It was a window into what’s possible.
This entire Junior Gold journey has been special, but tonight was something more. A chapter in her story that we’ll revisit again and again. A memory etched in her spirit.
And for me—as her dad—there are few greater honors than witnessing her live out the call that was planted deep in her heart years ago.
Here’s to the moments that take your breath away.
And here’s to Bella Love—who continues to walk in light and carry the flag, both on and off the lanes.
