Today was a full day at Bowlero Garland, and what a day it was for Bella Love.

She came into the afternoon block still shaking off the morning — carrying some of the frustration from a tricky first set where the lanes were tough and the scores were low. But after lunch, she came back refreshed and ready, and what followed was a great stretch of bowling.

Game by game, Bella Love found her rhythm. She opened the block with a strong 258, followed it with a 223, stumbled in game three with a 166, but then came roaring back with a brilliant 269. She closed with a 204, stringing the last four strikes together to finish her block on a high note.

By the end of the set, she averaged 224 for five games, finishing at plus 120. That put her at plus 47 overall for the tournament after the two blocks. More importantly than the numbers, though, she carried herself with poise, determination, and resilience. She stayed focused, never gave up, and kept her attitude strong even when things didn’t go her way.

What really stood out was her spirit. Bella Love pulled on her sweatshirt after the block, phone in hand, tired but smiling and ready to head out. She had given it her all. Barbi was happy. I was happy. And Uncle Josh — not really her uncle, but someone who has watched her grow up and feels like family — was right there, laughing and enjoying the moment with us.

Bowling is about more than scores. It’s about showing up, working hard, and sharing these moments with family and friends. Bella Love did all of that today. She had fun, she grew stronger, and she reminded me once again why I’m so proud of her — not just for what she does, but for who she is.

Waiting and Uncertainty

This morning I reflect on waiting and uncertainty and how both can feel like quiet teachers. Waiting is not empty. It is practice. It is the slow strengthening of patience. And uncertainty is not puni
