Title: Full Hearts and Flying Rolls – Our Lambert’s Café Experience

Today we made it to Lambert’s Café in Ozark, Missouri—and it did not disappoint.

From the moment we pulled into the parking lot and saw the line of people waiting outside, we knew we were in for something special. The air was buzzing with chatter, laughter, and anticipation. Barbi checked us in with a 35-minute wait, and I took the chance to explore.

The gift shop was packed with all kinds of Lambert’s treasures—stress balls shaped like rolls, hats that said “Home of the Throwed Rolls,” harmonicas, keychains, lollipops, even pillows shaped like a roll. It was part carnival, part country store, and 100% charm. I couldn’t wait to bring Bella in to check it out.

When our name was called—“Barbi, party of three”—we found ourselves at a cozy booth. The menu was full of Southern classics, and though I almost went for the chicken fried steak again, I landed on something that brought back memories: Polish sausage with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and green beans.

That plate brought me back. The first time we ever came to Lambert’s, it was my mom who brought us—me, Barbi, and Bella. I got chicken fried steak with her that day. But tonight, something about the Polish sausage and sauerkraut reminded me of the meals she used to make when I was little. For a few quiet moments, it felt like I was home again.

Then came the rolls—hot, buttery, and flying across the room. Barbi caught hers perfectly. Mine… hit the floor. But the next one landed in my hands, and it was worth the wait. Add in apple butter, molasses, fried okra, macaroni and tomatoes—and I was full in every sense of the word.

Now, bellies full and hearts even fuller, we’re heading back to the hotel to wind down and call it a night.

Thank you, Lambert’s. For the food. For the fun. And for the memories.
