The Walk That Endured

-June 26, 2025 – Centerpoint Campus, Arlington, TX

This morning, I woke up at 4 a.m.—before the sun had risen—giving myself time to reflect, pray, and spend some quiet moments alone. After a bit of journaling and reading, I finally stepped outside to find that the sun had already made its way up, casting a gentle light over everything around me. The air was crisp and refreshing, not muggy at all, making it the perfect setting for a morning walk.

I found myself weaving through sidewalks, noticing the little details—overgrown bushes, fallen limbs, and a few scattered pieces of trash. Not ideal, not perfect—but real. And then, I discovered a hidden gem: a pond with a beautiful fountain, benches for resting, and even an open basketball court. A perfect little nook of nature and recreation tucked away between the hotel and the ITRC.

As I sat there, soaking in the peaceful view, I noticed some activity in the distance—police training drills. Officers in full gear, working hard, pushing through their routines: knees, elbows, squats, and rotations. It was a powerful reminder of dedication and perseverance, echoing the very theme of my morning reflection—enduring what feels unendurable and trusting that if we keep moving forward, we become stronger versions of ourselves.

With that, I wrapped up my walk around the Centerpoint campus, passing by a few more ponds, watching the trainees in action, and feeling grateful for the journey. Today’s lesson? Just show up, be present, and trust that every step forward matters.
