The Presence of Time

The Presence of Time

This morning I walked in silence before the sun made its full debut, listening to the birds announce the day’s arrival. There’s something sacred about those early hours when the world is still waking up, when time slows and nature speaks. It reminded me how precious time is—and how often we either spend it without thought or invest it with purpose.

Time is a currency we don’t get back. We can waste it or we can use it to build something lasting—within ourselves, our families, and our communities. But that investment starts with presence. Not productivity. Not perfection. Presence.

As I listened to one of my mentors speak this morning, he reminded me of something simple but powerful: “How do you spell love? T-I-M-E.” It hit me. Whether you’re a parent, an athlete, a leader, or simply someone striving to live with purpose—your presence is your power.

Being present doesn’t mean you have to be perfect. It means putting your phone down. It means looking someone in the eye. It means giving the people you love your full attention, even if it’s just for ten uninterrupted minutes. Because in those minutes, trust is built. Love is affirmed. Life is truly lived.

So today, as I walked and breathed in the quiet, I installed a new belief: Let me invest my time. Let me not waste it. Let me show up. Not just for me—but for my wife, my daughter, my friends, and for anyone I’m blessed to influence.

Let’s stop spending time on nothing and start investing it into everything that truly matters.
