The Power Already Within You

The Power Already Within You

This morning, I woke up early—before the sun, before the noise. Around 5 a.m., I aligned myself with God and my purpose. I sat down with my journal, reflected on my top three priorities, spoke my affirmations aloud, and grounded myself in this simple but powerful truth:

My value comes from who I am, not what I do.

As part of my practice, I tuned into Brian Johnson’s Heroic Wisdom Daily. Today’s book was Discover the Power Within You by Eric Butterworth. And wow—this one hit home.

Butterworth reminds us:

God isn’t something to chase outside of ourselves. He is the presence within.

We’re not trying to reach up to something. We’re being called to let the divine breathe through us.

This echoes something I tell my students and athletes often:

“You already have greatness within you.”

Your job isn’t to go searching—it’s to wake up each day, water that seed, and let it grow. Nurture your love, your passion. Let your gifts be like an instrument—one that allows the musician to flow through it and create beauty.

Butterworth says Jesus wasn’t asking for worship—He was showing us how to awaken.

Right thinking leads to right living.

Your outer world is just a reflection of your inner world.

And that brought me back to the bench I was sitting on in downtown Appleton this morning—right on Wisconsin Street. Watching the world go by, I saw reminders of everything people chase. But none of it matters if you’re not aligned on the inside.

The time is now.

We’re not missing anything.

We’re discovering everything.

So I ask myself the question Brian left us with this morning:

How will I express my highest self today?

I’m not trying to do more.

I’m trying to be more—by remembering who I already am.
