The Compass and the Hourglass

The Compass and the Hourglass

For the Kindergarten Class of 2025

By Coach Castillo

Cover Page Poem:

A compass for the path ahead,

An hourglass for time we’ve shed.

Two gifts to guide you as you grow—

With love, there’s so much you will know.

Story Page:

In kindergarten, I taught you about two powerful tools: the compass and the hourglass. The compass reminds you to stay true to who you are and the direction you want to go. The hourglass reminds you that every day is a gift—and every grain of sand holds a story worth remembering.

Poem Page:

The compass points to what is true,

To dreams that live inside of you.

It keeps you strong when you feel lost,

It guides you home—no matter the cost.

Story Page:

Your compass lives inside your heart. When you’re unsure what to do, pause, breathe, and ask yourself: “What kind of person do I want to be?” That question will always guide you in the right direction.

Poem Page:

The hourglass flows, soft and slow,

Its golden grains help your heart grow.

Each moment counts, both big and small,

And writing them down remembers them all.

Story Page:

Each night before bed, take a moment to remember one special thing that happened in your day. Write it down or share it out loud. That memory is part of your story—and your story is your treasure.

Poem Page:

A story each day, a moment to hold,

Becomes your treasure, brighter than gold.

No coin can buy a memory sweet,

But your heart will know it’s a gift you keep.

Story Page:

I told you this: no one in their right mind would trade their most special memory for a million dollars. Why? Because your memories are priceless. They are proof that you lived, loved, laughed, and grew.

Poem Page:

So carry these gifts wherever you go—

Your compass of truth and your stories that glow.

The hourglass keeps ticking, steady and bright,

And you, little champion, are filled with light.

Story Page:

Your journey is just beginning. Whether you’re in first grade, on the playground, or out in the world one day, always know this: you are a light. You were made for great things. And your stories are the jewels that shine forever in heaven.

Final Message from Coach Castillo

Kindergarten Champions,

You did it. You’ve taken your first steps, and I’m so proud of you. Before you move on, I want you to remember two things:

  1. Follow your compass—it will always point toward truth, love, and purpose.

  2. Write your stories—one a day, just one moment that mattered.

Your stories are your treasure. They matter. And so do you.

Thank you for being brave, for being kind, and for letting me be your coach. I believe in you with all my heart.

With love,

Coach Castillo
