Reframing the Opportunity
I dreamed of pitching for Texas A&M, but through circumstances I went to another university and got to pitch against them. The first year, I tried to be perfect and became mechanical. I let the weight of the moment get in the way of who I really was on the mound, and it showed.
The next year, I returned to the mound against the same team. This time, I showed up with my routine, trusted my preparation, and competed like myself. That day I struck out nine and walked away with the win.
Those two games taught me something I carry into every area of life: opportunities aren’t about perfection, they’re about presence. Whether in sports, business, or relationships, when I reframe the opportunity—moving away from chasing perfection and instead focusing on showing up as the best version of myself—the outcome has a way of taking care of itself.
