Reflections from a Starbucks Patio: A Journey of Growth and Letting Go

As I sit here on the patio of a Starbucks in Joplin, sipping my hot water and watching the world go by, I find myself reflecting on the journey that brought me here. Just a short walk from the hotel, up the hill to this cozy spot, I can’t help but think back to the drive from Odessa and the meaningful moments shared with Bella as we listened to Mel Robbins’ book, Let Them.

The wisdom in Let Them has been a guiding light for both of us. It teaches us the power of allowing others to learn and grow through their own experiences, without feeling the need to control or fix everything for them. During our drive, Bella and I had a moment where a challenging topic came up, and she felt the urge to stop listening. Instead of pushing through, I encouraged her to just listen without doing the inner work, to take in the words from a distance. This little exercise helped us both realize the importance of giving ourselves and each other the space to grow.

So here I am, sitting with my hot drink, a 20-pound medicine ball by my side, and a heart full of gratitude for these moments of reflection and growth. If you haven’t yet checked out Let Them by Mel Robbins, I highly recommend it. It’s been a transformative experience for us, and I hope it can be for you too.
