From the Hotel Room to the Lanes: Garland Travel Day

Right now, I’m sitting in our hotel room in Garland, waiting for Bella to finish getting ready so we can head to the bowling alley. Tonight is the PBA Junior practice session from six to seven, followed by some time for her to hang out with friends. These moments — the quiet in-between before the action — are where the storytelling begins.

Every tournament is a journey of transformation. We arrive as one version of ourselves, and by the end, something changes. Sometimes it’s a score, sometimes it’s confidence, and sometimes it’s a quiet, unseen growth.

This trip began with a curveball. Bella isn’t feeling 100%. She’s dealing with what feels like liquid in her ear and some dizziness — possibly vertigo. Earlier today, we made a quick run to the store for medicine to ease the nausea and help her steady herself before practice.

While she rested and got ready, I took the opportunity to hit the weight room and get my own workout in. A little movement, some hydration, and a chance to clear my mind before we step into the arena.

Soon, we’ll head over to the lanes. This is where the real work begins — not just in the throws and the scores, but in showing up, adjusting, and finding ways to keep improving no matter the start.

By the end of the tournament, we’ll be different than we are in this moment. That’s the beauty of the process. From the hotel room to the lanes, the story is already unfolding.
