Fighting Back: What We’re Really Made Of

Fighting Back: What We’re Really Made Of

There comes a point in life when the weight of pain, disappointment, and uncertainty starts to wear you down. When the hurt feels heavy and you’re tired of carrying it, something powerful happens—you start to fight back.

It’s in that moment, when you’ve had enough, that you discover what you’re truly made of. Whether it’s on the playing field or in the battlefield of everyday life, adversity reveals character. When you’re knocked down, you get to decide how long you’ll stay there—and when you’ll rise again.

When your back is against the wall and there’s nothing left to give, that’s where the real fight begins. The pain, the adversity, the struggle—they aren’t there to break you; they’re there to awaken you. To remind you that strength was inside you all along.

As I press forward through the uncertainty of today, I do it with resilience and rooted faith. I know my foundation is firm. My roots hold strong. And out in front of me are goodness, strength, and power—waiting to be claimed.

Whether it’s leading my family, loving my wife, guiding my daughter, or chasing the dream of inspiring others, I want my life to reflect what I teach: that greatness isn’t something we chase—it’s something we uncover.

Today is another opportunity to rise, to look at challenges as invitations to grow, and to show those we love what life is truly about: pursuing greatness and living with purpose.

We aren’t here to blend in; we’re here to stand out—to be that 2% who don’t believe the world’s lies that we’re just like everyone else. We are called to lean into adversity, to go upstream when everyone else drifts downstream, and to trust that every obstacle is carving us into who we’re meant to be.

When we do that—when we give our very best, day after day—we find ourselves united with the assignment we were created for. And that’s where the true victory begins.

Waiting and Uncertainty

This morning I reflect on waiting and uncertainty and how both can feel like quiet teachers. Waiting is not empty. It is practice. It is the slow strengthening of patience. And uncertainty is not puni
