Evening Catch & Backyard Light – May 24, 2025

The storm kept teasing.

Lightning cracked close. The sky grumbled. Still, the game went on.

Knuckleballs, sliders, changeups. Bella called them out, pitch by pitch. Some wild. Some perfect. Some wild and perfect.

We laughed. We dodged thunder. We warned each other with grins—“If it strikes again close, we’ll follow directions.”

Neighbors came and went. Names surfaced. Faces passed. A normal day, made memorable because we were fully in it.

Then we headed to the backyard.

The hammock. The water. The blackberry favorite.

Bella grabbed her makeup bag. We all checked in—hydration, temperature, contact lenses, comfort.

We slowed down.

We were all a little tired.

A little sun-warmed.

A little held by the moment.

Barbi’s steadiness, Bella’s spark, and the last throws of a ball still echoing across the lawn.

The catch may be done, but the connection wasn’t.

The sky hadn’t cleared, but we weren’t afraid.

We moved inside with laughter still on our breath.

Not because the night was over.

But because the love already did its work.

And that’s how light lives on.

Not only in the sky—

but in us.
