Day One Recap – U18 Girls Qualifying at the World Series of Bowling

Today wrapped up the U18 Girls qualifying block at the PBA Jr. World Series of Bowling here in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and it brought plenty of action, adjustments, and focus from both Bella Love Castillo and Lindsay.

Bella finished the day with a 212 in Game 6—her strongest game since her 233 earlier in the block. While it wasn’t a clean game, she managed it well, staying mentally composed and executing key shots down the stretch. That final push locked her into the 7th qualifying spot with a total pinfall of 1157. Her journey through today was a true example of patience, perseverance, and the ability to adjust.

Lindsay came out steady from the start and kept building. She threw two strong 220+ games (223 and 223 again) and stayed consistent throughout, finishing with a 197 in Game 6. Her six-game total of 1296 secured her the 2nd qualifying spot overall. Her ability to string strikes, recover from tough frames, and finish strong was on full display today.

And now, the bracket sets up something special—Bella and Lindsay will face each other in the first round of match play. Two close competitors, both focused and ready, now stepping into a new format: two games, double elimination. Anything can happen.

The girls are finished for now. The boys are wrapping up their final qualifying games, and the lanes will be re-oiled after that. We’ve got about two hours before the 5:00 PM match play begins, which gives the girls time to eat, reset, and recharge.

Today was about learning, adjusting, and stepping up. Tonight will be about stepping forward.

Let’s go.
