Choosing Positivity Over Panic
Junior Gold Reflections | July 12, 2025
This morning, as I walked through Roosevelt Street and made my way toward the park near our Airbnb, I saw a squirrel and two rabbits. They watched me as I whispered two simple words: “I’m grateful.” And I meant it.
It’s Day 2 of Junior Gold, and the world is buzzing with pressure—carrying practices, ball selections, expectations, nerves. Bella Love steps into that storm today. But she doesn’t step in alone.
This morning I listened to Brian Cain’s Mental Performance Daily and his message about US gymnast Suni Lee. When Simone Biles stepped down, Suni didn’t panic. She chose positivity. She reminded herself of her preparation, smiled between events, and leaned into gratitude. That mindset won her Olympic gold. Not by avoiding fear—but by focusing on what could go right.
That’s what Bella Love is learning. That’s what I’m reminding myself of—walking past swimmers gathering under rain-soaked canopies for the Birdbath Invitational, past the posted sign: “Pool Closed for Private Swim Meet.” Even the swimmers showed up through the rain.
So will we.
My job today is to clear her mental lane. Remove unnecessary decisions. Keep her mind focused. Make space for joy. Keep her heart light.
Because mindset matters. And performance isn’t about perfection—it’s about preparation, presence, and perspective.
Today, we choose positivity over panic.
We choose breath over noise.
We choose love over fear.
And we remember: everything always works out for Bella Love.
