Blog Title: This Is What Love Looks Like on the Road

We pulled out of Odessa today with laughter in our lungs, the car full of gear, and hearts tuned into something deeper than a destination.

Bella had gone to work earlier in the day, and Barbi had picked up the rental SUV. The moment we loaded up and pulled away from the driveway, it felt like a page turned. Not with drama, just… momentum.

We stopped in Big Spring for gas and a bathroom break, then again in Sweetwater at Freddy’s. It wasn’t just food—it was frozen custard and shared smiles and one hilarious guy in a beard hairnet we’ll never forget.

The miles flew by not just because of the speed limit, but because we filled the space between exits with joy, conversation, and reflection. We laughed about old trips, answered deep questions about forgiveness and faith, and even got into a full discussion about who would survive a reality show (Bella wins, obviously).

We rolled into Lawton, Oklahoma in the evening, unpacked, and grabbed some Cracker Barrel to-go. Back at the hotel, we gathered around the table, said grace, blessed the food, and pulled up the U.S. Women’s Open Day One on the laptop.

There was laughter.

There was joy.

There was family.

After dinner, we each began to unwind—journaling, reading, watching old videos, and giggling like we were already on vacation mode. It was the kind of night you don’t want to rush. Just one of those “this is what life is for” kind of nights.

We’re grateful.

We’re full.

And we’re ready for the road ahead.

Tomorrow is a new leg of the journey, but tonight was everything I hoped for. These are the kinds of memories that build our family’s story.

Let the journey keep unfolding.

Let the memories keep showing up in small, golden moments.

This is what love looks like on the road.

Waiting and Uncertainty

This morning I reflect on waiting and uncertainty and how both can feel like quiet teachers. Waiting is not empty. It is practice. It is the slow strengthening of patience. And uncertainty is not puni
