BLOG: The Silence in the Road Home

BLOG: The Silence and the Road Home

By Brian Castillo

This morning, Randy’s house was quiet.

Not just regular quiet—the kind of silence that speaks to you.

The dogs padded around while I packed my bag. Everyone else had already gone—school, work, life moving on. I stood there alone in the stillness, and that’s when it hit me:

There will be a lot of mornings like this.

No crowd, no noise, no urgency. Just you.

And in that kind of silence, you’re faced with a choice:

Talk to yourself—or listen.

I chose to speak.

And here’s what I told myself:

“Greatness still lies within you. Just line up with the virtues and values that made you—a Castillo and a Kuznicki. That foundation still holds.”

What stayed with me from my time here wasn’t just the late-night laughs or porch talks. It was the deeper things.

Rest. Acceptance. Awareness.

And now, I’m heading back. Back to the place where I’m known, not for what I’ve done but for who I am.

Home.

What’s pulling me most?

The comfort of being embraced by Barbi and Bella.

Not with words, but with a hug that says everything.

It’s not about fixing or explaining—it’s about returning.

The road this morning feels different. The air says hope.

The sky says, hold on.

Each mile reminds me that every day is a story—and I’m here to live it, write it, share it.

Let’s see what today becomes.

Waiting and Uncertainty

This morning I reflect on waiting and uncertainty and how both can feel like quiet teachers. Waiting is not empty. It is practice. It is the slow strengthening of patience. And uncertainty is not puni
