Blog Entry – Why I Walk at 3 A.M.

I know—it sounds crazy.Who chooses to walk alone at 3 a.m., in the dark, when even the birds haven’t begun their song? But this is where my day begins. Not with noise, not with screens, not with motion—but with stillness. With surrender. There’s something sacred about being the first to walk the field before the sun claims it. When I step outside and can’t see more than two feet in front of me, I’m reminded that faith doesn’t require a full forecast. Just direction. Just presence. Just trust.Sometimes I notice small things—like a car creeping down the street or the exact moment the wind shifts. Other times, I don’t notice anything at all… until my foot sinks into a soft patch of sand or I feel the bark of the Tree of Zion beneath my palm. That tree and I—we’ve become old friends. I lean into it. I breathe with it. And some mornings, I take off my shoe and sock, place my bare foot into the cool grass, and let the earth steady me. It’s not symbolic. It’s real. I ground myself so I don’t float away with the world. At 3 a.m., I’m not trying to do anything.I’m just trying to be someone. The kind of someone who lives intentionally. Who sees light in the dark. Who walks with God even when only two feet ahead are visible. That’s enough for me.And when the world wakes up… I’ve already been walking in it—with peace, presence, and purpose.

Waiting and Uncertainty

This morning I reflect on waiting and uncertainty and how both can feel like quiet teachers. Waiting is not empty. It is practice. It is the slow strengthening of patience. And uncertainty is not puni
